Your innovation in brief
Auspice Social is a purpose driven social enterprise perusing meaningful profits. We produce over 50 varieties of culinary herbs, spices and seasonings. Our products are handcrafted and are free from any artificial additives, colors, preservatives & essence. All our products are processed, cleaned, sorted, packaged and labeled by persons with autism.
Describe about your innovation
We provide hands on training and skill development to adults with autism. Training programs vary between 3 weeks to 6 months depending in individual needs. All trainings necessarily culminate in employment with Auspice Social. By virtue of our inclusive business model, our work supports the principles of “Equal pay for equal work” and “Reasonable Accommodation” as defined in UN Convention on Rights of People with Disabilities (CRPD). We are also working in accordance with UN Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, SDG 10 – Reduced Inequality. Our innovation is a social innovation leveraging human capabilities. In order to truly appreciate the effort that our Autistic put in, imagine that they each have a difficulty, in gross or fine motor skills, sensitivity to smell, touch, in remaining focused for long duration. Lets say each person has 20% change of completing the tasks required a finished product. Then mathematics will tell you that the probability of all of them working together and producing something of value is close to ZERO. And yet, they could jointly, working as a team achieve a productivity of 200 units in a single day. In true sense our employees are the real innovators. You have to step into their shoes to understand what they have made possible. We do not deploy or propose to deploy neurotypical (normal) persons for these jobs. Our goal is to create 10,000 jobs for persons with autism, It is our belief that autistic people are an intrinsic part of our society and need understanding, support and opportunities. Just like others, the majority of persons with autism want a dignified and productive life. Our products and our business model are simple but they have the potential to transform lives not only of the autistic people but their families and the society.
