Your innovation in brief
.Matsya is a device for increasing the yield in order to increase profitability in aquaculture by automation and IOT within the existing constraints of land, water, feed. We are developing a multi-sensory, automated real time water quality monitoring system and auto start corrective measures to reduce risk and increase productivity in aquaculture
Describe about your innovation
Aquaculture yield is affected by many of physical and chemical parameters leading to loss in income. Some parameters like alkalinity are stable, some like dissolved oxygen and pH fluctuate daily. Low oxygen levels can cause death of fish in less than 30 min. Traditionally, manual samples of the water were taken and sent to a lab. The possibility of introducing error while monitoring is highest in the sample preparation step. Manual testing is labor-intensive and time-consuming. The delay between taking a reading and waiting for the results, critical time was lost in addressing any imbalances. Poor biomass conversion is a major concern of the industry that has not been addressed yet. Farmers would wait for just 1 more day and feed it to increase biomass but the crop would die out. Farmers have lost everything during this phase. Feed itself is very costly. Through our device, farmers will have data driven control over water quality maintenance and will be able to take steps at the correct time to prevent crop wastage. The device uses low cost LoRa based mesh network architecture with several nodes and a gateway. The design is highly scalable as supporting a huge number of the nodes is the important characteristics of LoRa technology. The data collected directly alerts the change in parameters to the farmer's smartphone so as to assist him to take immediate action to salvage his crop. The sensors are connected to actuators, which auto-start the remedial functions once change in parameters is detected. The sensors are connected to actuator eg. feeder and aerator devices to optimize feed and electricity usage and prevent change in critical water parameters. Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) can be controlled to gain larger size shrimp which increases profitability for the farmer while preventing feed wastage. Device combines AI with computer vision for hassle free accurate biomass estimation. AI algorithms predicts number, weight and health of the biomass in the aquafarm. Social impact: this device is specifically designed for the average aquaculture farmer who has <2 Ha of pond area. This device is intended to increase his income within his constraints of land and feed. More crop per hectare is the goal. 91% of aqua farmers are small and marginal. Increasing income of this segment will have a major positive impact on India’s economic development.
