Your innovation in brief
Virgo machines is engaged in the venture of making custom made machines in the food processing industry segment. Nagarajan is a visionary and envisaged in the early 2004, lack of labour shall affect the food processing industry adversely, and ventured to automate labour intensive manual processes. He launched machines to automate manual processes for garlic, shallots, onion, cashew and lemon. Virgo machines quickly bagged orders from within and outside India (UK, Singapore, Indonesia etc). Mr.Nagarajan more happy to mention here that CavinKare - Chinnis pickle is also his valuable customer. The saga of his success won him multiple national awards. One of his glorious moments were when he received National 3rd award from the illustrious, late president Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam through National Innovation Foundation(NIF) also bagged National 2nd award from National research development corporation (NRDC) for his previous inventions.
Describe about your innovation
The Innovation: One of our recent inventions of Mr. Nagarajan has been an automatic five in one, multi-purpose peeling machine, to peel the scalp of garlic, onion, shallots, cashew and peanuts. This pneumatic device with innovative hopper enables handling all 5 products of varying size and shapes. The air-blast technology deployed results in a 98% efficiency and is gentle to the surface of the product, resulting in extended shelf life of the end product. The machine has in-built programmable logic controller (PLC) which controls the functions of the machine resulting the desired output as programmed. This machine is rugged and parts installed are durable, does not required frequent maintenance. Nagarajan has mentored around 50 entrepreneurs through his unique automation process, who are currently running an ongoing successful commercial venture. Innovation is a repetitive process at Virgo. Currently Nagarajan is working on an import substitution for garlic peeling continuous line (garlic pods shall be broken, dried, peeled, graded for quality, packed and sealed). Commercial launch of this machine shall bestow the food industry with an advanced machine at almost half the price it is being imported.
