Hand held low cost device for measuring quality of compost fertilizer and soil fertility rapidly.
Describe about your innovation
62 million ton of Domestic waste generated in India per year. Unmanaged House hold wastes contribute to a number of deadly diseases. Mass level waste management also leads to additional problems such as Collection, Transportation and huge cost for treatment and disposal. Management of household wastes at house levels such as making compost yard solves a number of problems. The cities have a huge problem with waste removal and decomposition, which is another source of debilitating diseases. At Large scale Solid Waste Management Centers and home to home small compost yards assessing the Quality of Compost to meet FCO standards. So that the compost can used in fields and also can be commercially sold. Ensuring the Quality of Compost is essential for the utilization of the compost with more confident in commercial farming. Nonstandard compost fertilizer will do more harmful to the soil. Hence a solution is proposed in the form a handheld device to measure the quality of the compost which is affordable for the targeted customers who are mostly farmers. This device will measure the decomposing gases from the compost fertilizer and will identify the quality of the compost. The sensors will also measure the carbon and nitrogen contents in the fertilizer as well as in the soil. Without complex facilities and large time the farmers shall be able to know the quality of compost fertilizer they use. On other hand they can know they soil fertility precisely with this hand held device which in turn saves unwanted wastage if chemical as well as organic fertilizer. This will help farmers to increase their yield and attain economic prospectus
