Describe about your innovation
Greetings from Parihaar Foundation! It gives me an immense pleasure in introducing Parihaar Foundation, as the only NGO working towards welfare of widow community, through its wide range of services. Widowhood has traditionally been dreaded in India, not only because it means a lowering of the status of any woman within the matrimonial home, but also because it is accompanied by several indignities. Although urban India has generally moved ahead in these respects, widows continue to be ill-treated within the family, especially in the smaller cities. Unable to fight back if they are without children, or uncared for by children, some widows prefer to end their lives, some are exploited and what not! We believe that any social problem can be eradicated only when it is treated from its roots. Parihaar Foundation hands in hands, are serving this community through its five programs; SVAATANYA – Sustainable Living SPANDANA – Social Support System AAROGYA SIRI – Good Health MITHARA – Nutritional Support MILANA – Gather, Inspire & Get Inspired All our programs are designed with a thorough research and understanding, about all the possible ways of intervention required in uplifting this community across Karnataka. We admit and accept that our plan of activities requires lot of funds which is now our basic necessity.
